Mineplex was a US-based hub server for the popular indie sandbox video game Minecraft. Developed by Mineplex LLC, it launched on the Minecraft: Java Edition platform in 2013 and expanded to the Bedrock Edition of the game in 2017, allowing mobile and console players to join. The server was closed on May 12, 2023.
After initially adding the YouTuber CaptainSparklez to its roster, the server's player count had multiplied greatly, allowing Mineplex to become one of the biggest servers at the time with over 30,000 concurrent players on a regular basis. However, Mineplex had since experienced a steady decline and, in 2023, averaged 2,000 players on the Java and Bedrock platforms combined, with the latter generally receiving more traffic than its PC counterpart.
The server's ownership team had faced ongoing criticism due to their minimal interaction and lack of involvement in the server's maintenance and development. This resulted in communication issues within the server's administration, as community feedback struggled to reach executive directors, which was cited as the main reason for their lack of awareness of the server's happenings. Reports indicated that concerns from team leads were frequently ignored for extended periods, resulting in the neglect of most community requests. The last community-driven update occurred in April 2020, when the Game Insights team had been involved in developing a permanent game. Since then, updates have primarily focused on marketing and subscriptions to increase revenue (see Immortal and VIP+ Rank), with occasional holiday updates in between.
In Mineplex's final years, communication from the ownership side had also become inconsistent, as the server administration would often be informed about updates and changes without prior notice. In early 2023, a majority of Mineplex's paid staff team was let go, including the entirety of their development team, with the number of paid contractors reduced to a minimal size. Over the course of 2023, the server had experienced unexpected downtimes much more commonly than before, often lasting several days before being resolved. On May 12, 2023, the server went offline once more, again without a prior official statement. 4 days later, it was announced that Mineplex would not open again. While this had not been communicated with players, volunteer staff, administrators, developers or leaders in advance, most anticipated that the server would soon close its doors since no further maintenance or content updates were to be expected.
Mineplex featured over 30 different minigames, ranging from Bridges to Super Paintball.

80 players, scattered across the map. Giant caves, filled with shiny valuables, yet also monsters suddenly appearing in the dark. Watch out at all times – you won't regenerate after taking damage. Nope, your eyes aren't deceiving you: The legendary Minecraft classic, Ultra Hardcore, indeed returns to Mineplex after several years.
Ultra Hardcore is arguably the most intense and hectic gamemode offered by Mineplex. However, due to its re-release, the article needs some love to stay up to date.
We want to finish the game page which lacks a lot of detail on the new version of the game. Once that's done, our next aim is to include some more strategic tips, too.
To get done with all of this, we need you! Feel free to start editing on the Ultra Hardcore page, and share your knowledge with others.
